who

If you’re here, you probably know me already. But in case you don’t, I’m Lewis. I’m a 39 year old man. Hello.

I used to work in London. This started to feel like a slow death so I packed in my job to go sailing. Most of the time this seemed like a good idea rather than a mid-life crisis. I bought Suzerain in Madeira. After making some essential repairs, I sailed from Madeira to the Canaries in September 2017, then around the Canaries for a bit, then to Mindelo in Cape Verde and across the Atlantic to Antigua. After some fun and a lot of boat repair, I set sail again to Bermuda, and then back across to the Atlantic to the Azores. I made my final ocean passage to the UK in August 2018. I am currently planning to go back to work in London to continue the process of slow death.

Suzerain is a Sovereign 32 sailing yacht, designed by Ian Anderson and built by Western Approaches in 1993. She is solid, slow, safe and a bit old-fashioned.

You can read the story of my voyaging in my blog posts. I’ve also posted a lot of photos. I’ll continue to blog occasionally in the future, although my sailing will be more local, at least for the time being. Please get in touch if you have any questions.
